1970Fall9 reports with no call note data from 8·9 to 10·4 in Cottonwood, Nicollet, Wright, Pope, Mille Lacs, and Marshall; peak 1 0·1 Marshall (62) AR.
1973FallReported from Mille Lacs, Marshall, St. Louis, Anoka, Hennepin. Early and peak 8/10 Clay (11) (KBZ).
1974Spring20 reports from 4/27 to 5/28 from St. Louis, Clay, Aitkin, Olmsted, Lyon, Swift, Cottonwood, Douglas, Le Sueur and Wright.
1983Fall8/1 Anoka SC, 8/19 and 8/25 Lake SW/ MS, 9/6 Polk AB, 9/25 Roseau AJ, Lake of the Woods KSS. Buff-breasted Sandpiper, 9/16/83, Duluth, Nestor Hiemenz
1998Spring Unusual report 4/3 Jackson KB (most likely a Long-billed but would be record early for either species).
2002Spring Unidentified birds in six counties including 4/20 Cass (1) SWS, 5/11 Cottonwood (20) EPD et al., 5/13 Traverse (51) KJB.
2002Fall Reported 8/4 Roseau (9) PHS, 8/1 (25), 8/15 (22) Jackson KJB.
2003Spring Unidentified dowitchers 5/18 Marshall (250 at Agassiz N.W.R.) JEB, RBJ, JMJ.
2003Fall Dowitchers found during peak migration period for Long-billeds, but reported without details as Short-billeds, included 9/15 Becker (28), 9/24–29 Olmsted (max. 10), 10/10 Aitkin. Fifty dowitchers were prudently left unidentified during shorebird surveys in western Minnesota, including 9/27 Big Stone/Lac qui Parle (21) PCC.
2004Spring Short-billeds reported without details 4/17 Mower fell within the peak migration period for Long-billeds. Unidentified dowitchers 5/9 Otter Tail, 5/22 Carlton, and on four Big Stone surveys including 5/16 (16) PHS et al.
2004Fall Reported 9/12 Lac qui Parle WCM, 9/26 Brown BTS, 10/20 Rock LBF. A total of 71 dowitchers were prudently left unidentified during shorebird surveys in western Minnesota, including 9/11 Traverse (30) PCC.
2005Spring Unidentified dowitchers on several shorebird surveys, including 5/19 Big Stone (6) and Lac qui Parle (38) PHS, 5/23 Rock (6) PHS.
2005Fall A total of 1/4 dowitchers in October were prudently left unidentified during shorebird surveys in western Minnesota; most were probably Long-billeds, but see above.
2006Fall A total of 196 unidentified during shorebird surveys in western Minnesota (PCC, PHS), including 65 probable Long-billeds in October.
